Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Alum Chine
For today’s Residents’ Choice trip, we headed out to beautiful Alum Chine beach. Everyone had a fantastic time soaking up the sunshine, listening to the waves, and enjoying the fresh coastal air alongside our lovely team. We even took a stroll to explore the local Robert Louis Stevenson sculpture.
Cue the happy tears and purrs
Tracy and her sweet cat Lola brought the ultimate surprise today: a whole bundle of cuddly, curious kittens.
Our residents had the best time watching them explore. The biggest smile came from one of our residents, a lifelong cat lover who used to look after 30 cats at home.
Spot the new additions
The garden club was on a mission this morning to bring even more colour to our outdoor space.
Safe to say, mission accomplished! Our residents had a blast getting their hands dirty with Matt and Mel.
A beautiful day out on the water
Our residents had a fantastic time on a boat trip with the Friends of Dolphin, departing from Poole Harbour. The scenery was stunning and the fresh sea air was so refreshing. We couldn't have asked for a better day.
Tonight, we’re 100% team England
We’ve already kicked things off with some amazing mocktails, the energy is high, the excitement is totally worth the late night ahead, and we are ready.
Let’s bring it home.
Hymns with friends
During our recent Residents’ Meeting, many of our residents shared how much they miss singing the traditional hymns from their church and school days. With the help of members from Mixed Blessing (our local church), the Hyacinth House team and our wonderful resident, who found and printed all the hymn sheets, we hosted a fantastic afternoon of singing with friends. Hymns included timeless favourites like "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross." Afterwards, everyone headed out to the garden to enjoy the summer weather, homemade cake, a hot cup of tea, and great conversation.

Retail Therapy at Stewarts Garden Centre
Enormous plant selection, exploring autumn clothing options and a fresh cup of tea = the perfect day out.
Our residents had the best time exploring Stewarts Garden Centre in Christchurch, smiles all around.

Nursery visit
The children from Parley Preschool dropped by and brought so much joy, energy, and smiles to our home. From playing games to sharing endless laughs and jokes, our residents had the absolute best time bridging the generation gap. They sung Happy Birthday beautifully to our resident, who celebrated her special day today. Thank you to our little friends for making today so incredibly special.
National Chocolate Day
Today, our residents had a wonderful time celebrating one of our absolute favourite days of the year!
We hosted a special chocolate tasting, giving everyone the opportunity to sample a wide variety of delicious chocolates and explore all the different flavours. The official verdict from our residents? "Very tasty!"
Another eventful day at Hyacinth House
We had a wonderful day filled with delicious food. Our residents and visitors had an absolute blast with the one and only, our singing Sinatra, Scotty. There’s nothing quite like great company and some classic tunes to bring everyone together.
Thank you to everyone who made today so special.
Dreams really do come true
Our wonderful resident spent her life as a dedicated horse rider, collecting countless trophies and competition wins throughout her professional career. To honour her lifelong passion and make today extra special, we brought a sweet little horse right into our home for a visit. It was an incredible moment watching her lead Mr Kellogg by her side once again, just like in her riding days. This brought back a lot of memories, which she shared with us though her photos. The look of pure pride on her face was absolutely priceless. She cherished every single minute of it, and we loved sharing such a magical moment with her and getting some joy from Mr Kellogg ourselves.
Trip to Poole Harbour
We took another delightful trip out to Poole Harbour, and it was pure bliss. Our residents soaked up the warm weather while taking in the gorgeous views.
The competition is officially on
Ahead of the England game, our residents and staff faced off in our very own pre-game football match with some energetic upper body stretches. Safe to say, everyone brought their A-game and we had absolutely brilliant fun!
Exploring the Jurassic Coast with Steve Belasco
Our residents recently had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our beautiful local area and the stunning Jurassic Coast. The session was delivered by the well-known local photographer, Steve Belasco, who shared his spectacular imagery and knowledge of the coastline. We received a lot of fantastic feedback from our residents, who thoroughly enjoyed the session and complimented Steve's wonderful presentation.

Grease production
We attended the Dorset Foundation College production of Grease, and it was absolutely great.
Our resident's all had such positive feedback about how talented the youngsters are. A truly wonderful performance.
