Activities at Hundens Park Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can

Chloe
Activities Lead
Chloe is the Head of our activities department. She has worked here at Hundens Park since April 2025. Chloe studied Childhood and Early Years Studies at University whilst working part-time as a care assistant. It was during this time that she discovered her true passion lies in working with the elderly generation. Chloe has been part of activities teams since 2021, and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. ‘I love organising big events, animal visits, visiting entertainers, and everything in between.
No day is the same, which I love. As much as the big, fun events are great, I equally enjoy all the little moments in between. Meaningful conversations and 1:1 sessions are a big part of my role too’.
Celebrating life at Hundens Park Care Home

Pub Lunch and a Pint
Our lovely resident, Kevin isn’t one for many outings. However, one outing he will attend is a pub lunch with his Brother, Barry!
We hopped on our Barchester minibus with Kevin, Barry, and Waffle doggy and headed to the Cooper Beech Pub for lunch and a pint. However, it didn’t end there! We were joined by our lovely Darnton Suite residents, David & Rex. What made the occasion even more special was it was David’s birthday!
Happy birthday, David.
It truly was a lovely day had by all.

Summer fair and BBQ
Hundens Park 2026 Summer Fair and ‘BBQ’.
Where do we even begin? What an absolutely incredible day! There was no better way to kick off our celebrations than with a fantastic performance from our favourite visiting entertainer, Pete Johnson. As always, he had everyone singing, dancing, and smiling from start to finish.
We have been completely overwhelmed by the amazing support from our residents’ families and friends. The turnout was incredible, we even had people sitting in the corridors because we were so busy! Thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, donated, and purchased items throughout the day. Every penny raised will go directly into our Residents’ Fund, helping us create more wonderful experiences for those who call our home their home.
Our BBQ may have had to move indoors thanks to the weather, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun! After all the dancing, the burgers and hot dogs were enjoyed by everyone.
Trip to Dobbie's Garden Centre
Our ladies were so happy to have a browse around the store at all of the beautiful flowers and plants.
A visit to the aquatics centre was a must before we headed into the cafe for a cuppa, cake and a chat. Seeing how well our ladies enjoyed the outing has led to us visiting other garden centres including Strikes in Northallerton.
Pendragon visit
We enjoyed a lovely outing to Pendragon in Northallerton for a fantastic sensory experience. With fully equipped hoists available, every resident was able to take part and enjoy a calming and relaxing session.
Not everyone chose to relax though, some of us had great fun exploring the ball pit and enjoying the slide!
Fish and chips by the sea
A return to Seaton Carew! Each month at our residents' meeting, going back to the beach is always a highly requested trip! So, with the recent good weather, Hundens Park residents and staff decided to cease the opportunity and make it happen.
Fish ‘n’ chips followed by lemon tops and lemonade by the sea was nothing short of delightful. Even Willow the beagle joined us for the occasion, enjoying a Mr Whippy ice cream. A truly beautiful day had by all.

A visit from Digby
We had the wonderful Katy and her gorgeous Miniature American Pony, Digby visit us!
Digby was the most wonderful guest, he enjoyed relaxing in our reception area taking in his surroundings, before trotting through all 3 of our units spreading nothing but cheer and happiness throughout Hundens Park.
Katy, as always was so amazing and informative with our residents, taking time to chat to each individual she met! Thank you so very much for such a wonderful experience Katy & Digby! We will see you again soon.

Double celebrations
Double Celebrations at Hundens Park. Our Employee of The Month for July is… Our lovely Staff Nurse, Mariola!
Mariola is an incredible nurse. Thank you Mariola for making sure everyone is safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the night while everybody else is asleep. Mariola is a fantastic role model and a constant source of support for our care staff. We truly appreciate everything she does and are so grateful to have her as part of our team. Well done!
Secondly… Our Home Administrator, Laura, has been named Divisional Home Administrator of the Year for the second year running! An incredible achievement!
Last year, Laura attended the Barchester Care Awards, where she was crowned National Home Administrator of the Year. This year, she’ll be returning to the Care Awards, and we’re all hoping she brings home the national title once again. We couldn’t be prouder of everything she has achieved. Her dedication, hard work, and commitment inspire us all, all whilst being so lovely to everyone! We’re so lucky to have her as part of our team. Good luck, we’ll all be cheering you on Laura, and there probably won’t be a dry eye in the house like last year.
Our newly refurbished activities room
We are so excited to share our newly refurbished activities room on our Darnton Suite. From modern décor to beautiful new furniture, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create a warm, welcoming, and comfortable environment for our residents.
We’re delighted that our gents are able to enjoy a vibrant, inviting space. Our residents can come together, get creative, and enjoy meaningful moments every day in our activities room. Engaging in activities like arts, music, and puzzles helps maintain brain function and can slow cognitive decline. A dedicated space brings people together, reducing isolation and helping residents build connections and friendships.
Hardwick Park
Once the rain cleared, we decided to relive our youth, visiting Hardwick Park.
Swinging on the swings with the wind blowing through our hair brought back so much nostalgia. We also enjoyed a lovely walk around Hardwick Park, where we spotted lots of baby geese and ducks
Ana and Mary
Hundens Park had lots of celebrations throughout May – as per usual! Firstly, our wonderful General Manager, Ana, has been promoted to Senior General Manager! Ana’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Starting at Hundens Park as a carer over 15 years ago, she has shown unwavering dedication and passion every step of the way, progressing to senior carer, qualifying as a Nurse, then taking on roles as clinical lead, Deputy General Manager, General Manager, and now reaching this incredible milestone. We are so very proud of her.
On the same day, we celebrated our wonderful Care Assistant, Mary, who had recently tied the knot. We came together to congratulate Mary, and to wish her a marriage filled with peace, love, and happiness.

Good Hydration
Promoting Good Hydration! Residents and staff enjoyed delicious, freshly blended milkshakes made with strawberries, bananas, and a fresh mixed berry blend.
These refreshing milkshakes were a wonderful way to stay cool and hydrated, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed this tasty summer treat together.
Shopping trip
With a long shopping list in hand, our residents and team headed off to Morrisons to stock up on all the essentials. There was plenty of browsing, choosing favourites, and enjoying the buzz of getting out and about together. Of course, no trip would be complete without a well-earned stop at the café where everyone enjoyed a lovely lunch, a cuppa, and great company.
Lots of smiles, chats, and full tummies all around! Days like these are all about making memories, staying active, and enjoying the little things together.
Beach Day
Despite the unpredictable weather… sunshine one minute and rain the next, we brought the beach indoors and made the most of every moment. Everyone enjoyed delicious fish and chips, followed by a special visit from the ice cream van. It’s been a fantastic day filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of happy memories.
A truly positive dining experience had by all, and a great way to carry on our Carers Appreciation Week.
VE Day
VE Day Celebrations at Hundens Park. The incredible visiting entertainer, Pete Johnson, kicked things off with a fantastic live performance. He had everyone singing along and reminiscing about some classical favourites.
The celebrations continued with a delicious freshly prepared afternoon tea, lovingly created by our talented Head Chef, Sarah.
Wish fulfilment
A Wishful Fulfilment. Tommy played bowls for many years, and the game has always been close to his heart. Although a summer visit to South Park last year brought a touch of disappointment when no one was playing, it didn’t take away the memories he holds there. These days, Tommy prefers life a little quieter… A game of dominoes, the daily paper, and keeping away from the bustle of big events.
So when we discovered an indoor bowling green and told him about it, his excitement said it all. He couldn’t wait to go! Tommy had the chance to bowl again himself, watched a competition with interest, and enjoyed every moment — all with a sausage roll in one hand and a beer in the other. The best part though, is him thanking us over and over when we got home. That tells is just how much it meant to him. Days like that aren’t about grand gestures…they’re about feeling included, remembered, and able to enjoy something you love again.
