Activities at Elderwood House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which will be reflected in the activities they organise.

Drew Trinder
Activities Lead
Hi, my name is Drew. I have worked in the care sector for 2½ years, after previously working as a hairdresser. I absolutely love being in care and everything it involves especially spending time with residents and seeing them day to day. Knowing that I’ve made even the smallest difference to someone’s life brings me the greatest enjoyment.
I’ll be here, there and everywhere, so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything. If I can help, I will, if not, I’ll make sure I find someone who can. As we are a family at Elderwood and just want the best for our residents.
I’m a family-oriented person who loves baking, spending time with loved ones, and going on holiday.
Celebrating life at Elderwood House Care Home

The Little Things

Birds of Prey at Coolings Lifestyle

A Taste of the Seaside
Residents at Elderwood House enjoyed a wonderful seaside-themed celebration, bringing the fun and nostalgia of the British coast right to our home. With traditional fish and chips, seaside games, music and plenty of laughter, the day was filled with smiles, happy memories and opportunities to spend quality time together. Creating meaningful experiences like these is just one of the many ways we support wellbeing and make every day enjoyable at Elderwood House.

A wonderful day exploring one of Kent’s hidden gems
Our residents had a fantastic time during a recent trip to Hall Place & Gardens, organised by our brilliant Activities Coordinator, Drew, and supported by James, our Host, who helped make the day relaxed, enjoyable and full of smiles.
Residents enjoyed lunch together before taking in the beautiful surroundings of Hall Place, a stunning Tudor house dating back to 1537. Set amongst award-winning gardens, the historic estate offers nearly 500 years of fascinating history and provides the perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon out.
Getting out into the community, making memories and enjoying new experiences is such an important part of life at Elderwood House, and days like these are always a firm favourite.

Summer Treats in the Garden
There’s something truly special about enjoying the simple pleasures of summer together. Our residents recently spent a relaxing afternoon in the garden, savouring fresh strawberries dipped in rich chocolate while making the most of the glorious sunshine.
Surrounded by beautiful outdoor spaces, the afternoon was filled with laughter, conversation, and moments of quiet relaxation. These shared experiences encourage friendships, promote wellbeing, and remind us that some of life’s happiest moments are often the simplest.
At Elderwood House, we believe creating meaningful moments every day is just as important as providing exceptional care, helping our residents feel truly at home.

Birthdays all round at Elderwood House

An Afternoon of Poetry
Requested by our residents, our poetry afternoon offered a chance to share favourite poems, discover new verses and enjoy meaningful conversations together. A wonderful activity that encourages reminiscence, creativity and connection

Good food, great company and lots of laughter
There’s nothing better than bringing people together over delicious food, and that’s exactly what happened at our latest Cheese & Wine Afternoon at Elderwood House.
Thoughtfully organised by our fantastic Activities Coordinator, Drew, and supported by Michelle, one of our caring team members, the afternoon was filled with a wonderful selection of cheeses, plenty of conversation and lots of laughter. It was the perfect opportunity for residents to socialise, reminisce and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Keep Cool at Elderwood
The sunshine is here, and there’s no better way to enjoy it than with a refreshing ice cream! Our residents have been making the most of the beautiful weather, sharing smiles, stories and sweet treats together.
It’s the little moments that make summer so special.

There were smiles all around at Elderwood House as our residents enjoyed a wonderful pet therapy visit. Spending time with our friendly four-legged visitors brought comfort, laughter and plenty of happy memories, with residents enjoying cuddles, conversation and companionship.
Pet therapy is a fantastic way to promote wellbeing, encourage social interaction and create meaningful moments, and it was lovely to see the positive impact it had on everyone involved. We look forward to welcoming our furry friends back to Elderwood again soon!

Making Wishes Come True at Elderwood

Adventure Awaits

Stretch, smile and feel your best
Keeping active has never been so much fun!
Our residents recently enjoyed a gentle chair stretching session, thoughtfully organised by Zina, helping everyone improve flexibility, mobility and circulation while enjoying plenty of smiles along the way.
Chair-based exercises are a fantastic way to build confidence, maintain independence and support overall wellbeing, and judging by the laughter in the room, everyone had a wonderful time!
A huge thank you to Zina for organising such an enjoyable session and encouraging everyone to get moving together.

Staying Active Together
Our residents recently enjoyed a wonderful visit from Karen at Rise, who led an engaging session of gentle exercise and interactive games designed to keep everyone active, smiling and involved.
The session encouraged movement, laughter and plenty of conversation, with residents taking part at their own pace. They particularly loved the friendly competition throughout the games, cheering one another on and sharing plenty of smiles along the way. It created a fantastic atmosphere, with everyone enjoying the opportunity to socialise while keeping active.
At Elderwood, we believe that staying active plays an important role in both physical and emotional wellbeing. We’d like to thank Karen and the team at Rise for such an enjoyable visit, and we look forward to welcoming them back for another fun-filled session soon.

Time Together to Treasure
Family time is precious, and our private dining room offers the perfect setting to enjoy it. Graham and his loved ones recently shared a delicious meal prepared by our Head Chef, Joe Sackett, enjoying quality time together in a relaxed and elegant environment. It’s just one of the many ways we help residents continue making special memories with the people who matter most.
